General Summary:
Coordinates the Company’s environmental, health and safety programs. Monitors facility and processes for adherence to all federal, state and local guidelines in the areas of health, safety and environmental.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- To maintain a thorough knowledge of all environmental, health and safety standards affecting Company property and personnel.
- To provide Company’s management with advice on and solutions to problems affecting the health and safety of Company personnel and property.
- To recommend new and improved equipment which affects environmental controls and safety of Associates.
- To develop Associate-related safety programs and to train Associates in safety and accident prevention.
- To perform in-house audit of facilities and recommending action for correcting environmental, health and safety deficiencies.
- Complete and submit all mandated reports to the appropriate governmental agencies.
- Act as Company spokesman with governmental agencies for all audits and investigations concerning environmental, health and safety programs.
- Assist Company management in resolving any citations issued by local, state and federal inspectors.
- Review and analyze accident reports to make recommendations on how to prevent similar accidents in the future.
- Coordinate the Worker’s Compensation Program including the light duty program and attending Worker’s Compensation Hearings as appropriate.
- Lead the Company Safety Committee meetings and efforts.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety practices and principles, applicable regulations and workers compensation laws.
- Must be able to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and ability to make group presentations.
- Must be focused and attentive to details.
- Must be able to function with interruptions and deadlines.
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management or other applicable field with minimum of one year of experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Must pass a physical and drug screen for employment.
