CAREER OPPORTUNITIES :: FINISHING SUPERINTENDENT

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily meetings informing the Finish Room of all issues that concern them.
  • Help organize and monitor the daily functions of the Off Line, Main Line, and the Paint Room in the Finishing Department.
  • Responsible for documenting and reporting any difficulties to the Production Manager.
  • Responsible for the coordination of the efforts of the Off Line Department Leader and the Main Department Leader in the Finish Room.
  • Responsible for improving efficiencies and reducing operational costs of the Finish Room in the areas of proper training of Associates, controlling overtime costs, material utilization, and minimizing hazardous waste disposal.
  • Work with the Production Manager on the development of new finish products and processes.
  • Work with the Production Manager in the documentation of all Finish Room procedures and processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment with an emphasis on reducing recordable accidents.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality standards are met and that they are well defined.
  • Willing to receive training to further improve interpersonal communication skills, team development skills, and basic management skills.
  • Continually look for ways to insure quality, improve product flow, and increase efficiencies in the Department, as well as reduce reworks and Plant warranties.
  • Ensure that training methods are developed to shorten the learning curve of new Associates.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Be able to complete and understand labor projections.
  • Must have experience with wood finishing equipment – airless, air assisted, & H.V.L.P.
  • Experience with process improvement.
  • Must have experience with wood finishing techniques and development of new finishes.
  • Proven track record of improving production efficiencies and lowering cost.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of all finish materials.
  • Must be able to determine which chemicals to add to all finishes to insure optimal performance of those finishes.
  • Hands-on problem solving skills on a plant production floor.
  • Must have the necessary skills required to create an environment conducive to motivating Associates to achieve the desired results required in the Finishing Department.
  • Focused and attentive to details.
  • Ability to function with interruptions and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree and five (5) years experience in supervision of twenty (20)+ subordinates.
